Armed
with the fitting story from the novel Outliers
by Malcolm Gladwell, which was about an Italian community in America who showed
the rest of the country that the secret to a long life was good relationships
with others, Dr. Fay M. Lauraya went around the different offices,
colleges, and campuses of Bicol University to bring home her Christmas message
of success as an institution through camaraderie among co-workers.
Dr. Lauraya untiringly visited unit after unit as they each made their year-end assessments and celebrated their Christmas parties in more intimate settings, unlike last year’s university-wide gathering. She emphasized in each message that good relationships within the workplace is the secret for each office to work hard together and support each other to achieve their goals.
The
BU President likewise expressed her sincere thanks to all for the concern and
dedication they showed for the university. She shared her hope that
everyone will continue working for better things in the coming years, especially
for the university to be internationally accredited by 2010. She has great
anticipation for the day when BU graduates will have the ISO mark stamped on
their diplomas.
“This is going to mean hard work,” she said, but went on to assure everyone that the benefits of international accreditation will certainly be worth it. According to her, Bicol University’s aim for international accreditation is in keeping with its performance framework of producing globally competitive graduates.
