Brief History


In the beginning...
The name Albay Normal School was changed to Bicol Teachers College in 1962 by virtue of Republic Act No. 3502. It officially became Bicol University College of Education when Bicol University was legally established on June 21, 1969 by virtue of Republic Act 5521.


Decades later...
Since 2003, the College has offered Certificate in College Teaching (formerly called Certificate in Teaching or CT which was approved in 1983). On March 2008, the College of Education was identified as a Center of Training (COT) for DepEd Certificate and INSET Program after passing the criteria set by the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education and Teacher Education Council. In June 2008, the College of Education was identified as one of the 14 Centers of Excellence (COE) for Teacher Education in the country.

On December 2, 2011, the Bicol University (for all colleges and campuses) was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Certification for Quality Management System for provision and development of Tertiary and Graduate degree and Non-degree courses, Research and Extension services by TUV SUD ASIA PACIFIC TUV SUD Group.

At present...
The BEED and BSED programs of BUCE passed the AACCUP Level III Re-Accredited (Qualified for Level IV) Accreditation on December 23, 2013.
