Degree Programs
Bachelor of Arts in English
The AB English Program leads to the degree of Bachelor of Arts in English. As a course, it is both a means for liberal education and appreciation of the study of language and literature. It aims to train students to communicate effectively, to think critically, and to make logical judgments. It also aims to inculcate in them the love for truth and justice, and respect for law.
The revised AB English curriculum leans toward a more liberal education that ensures the development of broad-ranged and varied competencies and skills highly-valued in a dynamic workplace. Primarily, it gives training on effective personal and organizational communication, improved human relations, and authentic understanding of human experience and people's world view. It is a communication arts-based curriculum geared to the comprehension and appreciation of the discipline. Corollary to the furtherance of literally skills is the advancement of communication competence, especially along listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The new curriculum, while responding to the demands of the industry, remains true to the standard of holistic education, broad and balanced, to produce well-rounded and flexible graduates who will comprise the literate citizens of the future.
Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theater Arts
The course is designed to produce graduates equipped with advanced and technical expertise in Speech Communication and Theater Arts. It aims to develop students with the basic knowledge and necessary skills in the different aspects of oral communication and the different theater forms.
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism
This is a four-year degree program that aims to produce quality and ethical journalists. The course is designed to provide the students the rudiments of media writing. Development subjects are offered to give students the background on how journalism can be used for community development.
Bachelor of Arts in Communication
This communication-oriented course is focused on arts related to sounds and sights, equipment used for recordings, theatre, movie, music sound effects and camera for shooting or filming TV programs or movies. This includes training for VTR productions, commercials, TV coverage and movie making.
Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting
The Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting aims at a comprehensive understanding of the theory of communication, the nature, principles and practices in broadcast communication with a view of contributing to the development of broadcast communication competence and professionalism among broadcast practitioners in Bicol region.
This curricular program takes into consideration the broad interdisciplinary nature of the phenomenon of communication giving emphasis to the social, cultural economic and political context of a particular society within which communication is operative.
The four-year course in Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting carries the main objective which is to develop students to become competent, critical, responsible and professional media practitioners who are with a high-level of communication and technical competence and skills required of the media, and are imbued with a high ethical awareness and social responsibility as members of the third state.
Master of Arts in Literature
This is a multidisciplinary course anchored on several branches or disciplines of the Humanities such as arts, history, philosophy and psychology. It provides the gateway for the students to discover the works of great writers and reflect, analyse and evaluate merits of masterpieces the world over, (from the ancient times down to the contemporary period; focusing on the universal impact of literature on human kind).
Master of Arts in Filipino
Ang programa ay nalalayong palawakin at palalimin ang kaalaman at kahusayan ng mga guro sa pagtuturo, pananaliksik, pagbibigay panayam, pagsulat sa pamamagitan ng linggwistika, sosyolinggwistika, panitikan, mga teoryang pampanitikan at iba pang kaugnayan na disiplina na mgiging sandigan sa pagkakaroon ng makabago at makabuluhang teorya at istratehiya sa paggtuturo ng wika at panitikan.
Doctor of Philosophy in Filipino
Layunin ng programang makalinang ng mga gurong may sapat na kasanayan, kakayahan at kaalaman sa Filipino, mga administrador at mga tagabalangkas ng programang pangwika upang makapagbalangkas at magsakatuparan ng mga gawaing pangwika.
