Enhancement Training for faculty held by BUGC

Monday June 4,2018

To further improve the capabilities of their faculty in preparation for this incoming school year, Bicol University’s Gubat Campus (BUGC) conducted an enhancement training last June 01 and 02 at their campus in Gubat, Sorsogon.

The said training had the BUGC faculty undergo a series of lectures and workshops concerning administration, research and Extension, and modern methods of classroom management.

On the first day, BU President Arnulfo Mascariñas himself discussed Bicol University’s road map on responding to the needs of the current times. Dr. Helen Llenaresas, the BU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, was also present in the gathering to re-orient the participants on the output-based education (OBE), preparation of grades, TOS, guidelines on classroom management and other academic concerns.

During the afternoon, the directions and updates on the research and extension were the focus of the discussions. These were delved into by BURDMD Director Dr. Luis Amano, BUEMD Director Dr. Lester Narvaez, and BUGC Extension Coordinators Dr. Rosemarie Jadie and Ms. Mary Rose Domdom.

There was also a learning session about making SPMS work in BUGC, which was done by Prof. Erwin Torres of BU’s Technical University Planning. Each discussion was followed by a workshop for the participants to further learn the topics at hand.

On the second day, a review of the prior day’s learning was discussed by Ms. Anna Liza Castillo, BUGC Research and Extension Coordinator. This was then followed by the talk of Atty. Norly Reyes, BU’s Chief Administrative Officer, regarding administrative matters in the university.

For the final quarter of this two-day training, the participants went through writeshops and reporting to gauge what they have learned from the resource speakers.
